Description of our project

Project using statistics to know and compare characteristics, tastes, similarities and differences of students with the same age in different European countries. The final product will be a poster exhibition entitled “Portrait of colleagues from …” displayed in school, in the school website and newspaper, common presentations/ebook/cartoons/animated films, showing the results of the comparisons. ICT will support the project work.  

The principal goals of the project are to increase students´ motivation and interest for Mathematics, stimulate their curiosity and investigative spirit, by combining statistics contents of the curriculum with daily life aspects and characteristics of students of different parts of Europe ; We also aim to improve communication in foreign languages, promote european citizenship, explore and use ICT in research and communication.

Step 1: Knowing you, knowing me ( in Maths ) 

Step 2: Knowing our classes/schools/towns Preparing a logo of the project (contest) 

Step 3: Choosing the topics and the questions for the surveys by the students and preparing the surveys; Preparing a common statistics dictionary and a dictionary with basic words in our languages 

Step 4: Preparing online surveys and conduct them; preparing common presentations ( in international groups ) showing the results Preparing Christmas wishes and exchanging Christmas traditions with recipes which involves Maths 

Step 5: Preparing cartoons, animated films 

Step 6: Preparing the tasks - Maths problems with the results of the surveys and with percentages 

Step 7: Exhibitions in our school showing the results of the project; Evaluation and summarizing videoconference.
